As of 2014, the Lamborghini line of cars are manufactured by the Italian company Automobili Lamborghini, S.p.A. Established in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, the company was started after the founder had purchased a Ferrari and felt that it required too many repairs.
In 2008, 2,430 Lamborghini vehicles were produced at its manufacturing plant near the Italian village of Sant'Agata Bolognese. As of 2014, the number of cars produced in 2008 by the company remains its record production year. Since 1998, the Lamborghini production company has been under the ownership of the Audi division of Volkswagen Group. The two car lines being produced by Lamborghini in 2014 are the Aventador and the Huracán.
