The Ford Power Stroke diesel engine is manufactured by Ford at its manufacturing plant in Chihuahua, Mexico, as of 2015. Ford began manufacturing the Power Stroke in 2011. From 1982 to 2010, the Power Stroke engine was manufactured by Navistar for Ford.
The Ford Power Stroke engine was introduced in 1982 when Ford partnered with International Truck and Engine Corporation, which was later renamed Navistar, to improve its Super Duty line of trucks. The first Power Stroke engine was a 6.9-liter engine featuring 170 horsepower that was manufactured from 1982 until 1987. A 7.3-liter engine was manufactured from 1988 to 2003, and was equipped with a turbocharger in 1994. Navistar produced a 6.0-liter engine from 2003 to 2007 and a 6.4-liter engine from 2007 to 2010. The first Ford-manufactured diesel engine was the 6.7-liter Power Stroke that began production in 2011.
