There are several steps to changing spark plugs, beginning with making sure the engine is completely cool. Next, remove one spark plug wire by gently lifting straight up from the spark plug. It is important to change one plug at a time to avoid mixing up the spark plug wires.
Use a gapping gauge to measure the exact required distance on each spark plug. Unscrew the spark plug with a spark plug socket. Next, install the new gapped spark plug. Use a torque wrench for this tightening, and do not over-tighten. Finally, attach the spark plug wire on top of the new plug. Repeat this process for each spark plug. Be sure to check the owner's manual for proper gapping distances and proper torque specifications before attempting the job.
