Commercial driver's license, or CDL, training is a program for drivers who want to apply for a CDL. The training covers topics such as map reading, advanced truck driving techniques and emergency responses to unforeseen situations.
CDL training also covers compliance with the laws set by the Department of Transportation. Some CDL training locations also offer trainees practical training time, driving trucks inside their facilities and on the road. Others offer practice tests for drivers to prepare for the written portion of the CDL test. As of 2015, some U.S. states offer a government preparatory program for CDL training, while others arrange training through third-party companies.
