Zimmer Motorcars Corporation began in 1978 as a maker of neo-classical automobiles. The Zimmer Golden Spirit became the company’s flagship model, and the company produced more than 1,500 Golden Spirits up until 1988. Zimmer built the original Golden Spirit with a Mercury Cougar chassis, but in 1979, they replaced it with the Ford Mustang’s chassis. At the heights of its success in the 1980s, the company had 175 employees and approximately $25 million in annual revenue.
