White oval decals are white stickers that are commonly placed on car bumpers and represent places such as country, state or college. White oval decals were created in the early 20th century in Europe.
European countries had license plates that looked very similar, making it hard to distinguish the place of registration. For a period of time, it became a requirement in Europe to have an oval decal stating the vehicle's country of registration. During the 1980s in America, it became a popular fad to display these white oval decals. As of 2015, oval decals come in all colors and depict place, humor, hobbies and images.
