DieselHub.com and Agkits.com provide specifications for the DT466 engine. The DT466 is a 466-cubic-inch, 7.6-liter, in-line six cylinder, cast-iron block diesel engine manufactured by International Navistar, formerly International Harvester. Commercial-use engines range from 185 to 345 horsepower, while military versions generate 375 horsepower.
DT466 production began in 1971 and used mechanical injection. It was first released in four-wheel-drive tractors but has also been used in highway applications since 1975. Production updates to the injection system occur as emissions standards changed. The DT466E produced from 1994 to 2003 used high-pressure oil injection. The DT466E produced since 2004 uses electro-hydraulic injection. MaxxForce DT is a continuation of the line that also uses an electro-hydraulic injection system.
