It is possible to obtain a driver record from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Drivers can view the record online and print it for a small fee, but drivers can only obtain an official document by submitting a form to the DMV Headquarters or by request in a field office.
Only records received directly from the DMV are official, and thus these records cost more. The driver record includes information such as the current owner's name, the legal owner's name, the registration status and the vehicle description. Drivers can also request to have a current address appear on the form.
