Though the Pontiac brand was discontinued as part of GM's restructuring after the financial crisis of 2008 drove the company into bankruptcy, a company known as Trans Am Depot produces copies of the Pontiac Firebird Trans Ams with GM's approval. These newly built Trans Ams are based on the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro, but styled after the Trans Am version of the Firebird produced between 1969 and 1993.
