On its website, Ford provides information for its F-53 motorhome stripped chassis. The F-53 chassis offers multiple wheelbase lengths up to 252 inches. It contains a six-speed automatic transmission paired to a 6.8-liter, V10 engine with three valves per cylinder that makes 320 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque.
Customers can opt to have the F-53's engine prepared from the Ford factory to run on compressed natural gas or propane, rather than on gasoline. It has an 80-gallon fuel tank. The chassis' frame is of single channel, ladder type construction and is made from steel that can support 36,000 pounds per square inch.
