Full Answer

The transfer case is located in the center of the undercarriage of a Dodge Ram. Using a 10-millimeter hex driver, remove the fill plug. The oil does not drain after the plug is removed.

Place a drain pan that holds at least two quarts of oil directly under the transfer case. Using the 10-millimeter hex driver, remove the drain plug, which is below the fill plug. Let the oil drain for at least 5 minutes.

Tighten the drain plug, and use a vacuum oil pump to fill the transfer case with ATF oil. The case is full when oil drips out of the fill hole. Tighten the fill plug to complete the oil change.

Take the used oil to an automotive parts store for disposal and recycling.
