To update the address on your driving license online, access the website of the Department of Motor Vehicles, and click on the link for changing the address. Check the DMV website to know the details of address change process for your state. Provide the required information on the relevant form, and enter the new address to have the change updated in the DMV's system.
After accessing the DMV website, click on License & ID towards the left top of the page, and click on Address & Name Change under Additional Resources towards the right of the box that opens. Then, click on your state to know the address change process for that region.
In general, the state DMVs require you to provide the driver's license number and personal details, including date of birth, Social Security Number and old address in the form. After entering the new address, submit the form online. The address change should now be reflected online.
Some states mail a license copy containing the new address and some send an address sticker to be pasted over the old address on the license. If the state does not send updated documents, check the state DMV website to know if the new address can be written on the back of the license.
Alternatively, order for a replacement or duplicate license. Check the DMV website for your state to know how to apply for the same.
