The Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company was founded in 1852 and started out producing wagons. In 1902, the company began making electric vehicles, and in 1904, gasoline vehicles. The company merged with Packard, a luxury car maker, to form Studebaker-Packard Corporation in 1954. The Packard name was phased out in 1962, and the company became the Studebaker Corporation.
