How Do You Buy a Car at a Manheim Auction?

To buy a car at a Manheim auction, register for an auction, bid, pay a deposit, finalize the payment and collect the vehicle. Vehicles are available for purchase without participating in the Manheim auction.

Visit a Manheim location and register to participate in an auction. Registration is also available online through the Manheim website. Provide photo identification during registration to obtain a buyer number. Read and understand the terms and conditions of the auction before bidding.

Next, attend the auction and look at the vehicles of interest. Inquire about log books and accessories from the Manheim staff, and inspect them before the auction begins. Bidders are not allowed to test drive vehicles for health and safety reasons, although the vehicles are driven through the lanes for auction and may be started by staff on request.

During the auction, raise a hand or buyer number to get the auctioneer’s attention once the bidding begins. Pay a deposit after successfully winning a bid, and complete the payment by the next business day following the auction.

Collect the vehicle once the payment has been completed. All vehicles should be collected no later than 4 p.m. the day after the sale, as of July 2015. Keep in mind that it is illegal to drive an unregistered vehicle.
