Used B-8M Gyrocopters and B-7M Gyrocopters are Bensen Gyrocopters available for purchase. The B-8M is a single-seat experimental aircraft designed by Russian immigrant Igor Bensen in the 1950s. It was the most popular aircraft kit at that time. The gyrocopter's rotor blades aren't motorized, requiring a rolling takeoff.
The B-7M was the first of Bensen's motorized aircraft. A Nelson H-59 engine was added to the original B-7, which had to be towed and released for gliding. The aircraft is a simple combination of seat, rotor, motor and tailfin. Bensen Aircraft Corp. closed its doors in 1987, but the aircraft and kit are still available in the secondhand marketplace.
