Registering with Ford's SYNC system provides a Ford vehicle owner access to the SYNC owner services, which include turn-by-turn voice directions, traffic updates and live technical support. Other in-vehicle services with a SYNC subscription include business and address search and news, entertainment and weather reports.
Utilizing a phone, a SYNC owner can access his online Vehicle Health Assessment and schedule service appointments at a dealer. A SYNC subscriber also has access to the Ford owner support site, which allows the Ford owner the ability to receive maintenance updates, pay Ford Credit bills and receive special offers.
Ford offers three different versions of the SYNC system with different versions available based on the model and year of the vehicle. As of 2015, Ford's newest version of SYNC is SYNC 3, which is available on the 2016 Mustang, Fiesta, Escape, Expedition and Transit. This version includes all of the features on the SYNC system available with either MyFord or MyFord Touch, but has a new design, new interface and new features. One of the enhancements of the SYNC 3 is in voice recognition, so the system responds to voice commands from a driver using his natural voice.
When choosing a SYNC system, it's important to ensure that the owner's smartphone is compatible with SYNC. This information is available on Ford's website.
