Apply Ski Doo decals to a clean surface by spraying the surface thoroughly with water, peeling the backing paper from the decal, pressing the decal into place from the center out, letting the adhesive set and peeling off the adhesive tape. For best results, apply decals when the temperature is above freezing.
Start by removing old decals and cleaning the area for the installation well to remove grease and grit. Heat from a hair dryer helps loosen old decals, and drying with a lint-free cloth ensures a smooth surface for the application. Next, add a drop or two of liquid dish detergent to a quart of water in a spray bottle, and evenly wet the application area. The detergent helps the decal slip into place, and the water minimizes the development of air pockets during the application process.
Remove the backing paper, working slowly from one corner to avoid damaging the decal. Gently set the decal in place on the wet surface, and adjust until it is in the right location. Press the decal firmly into place, and use a plastic scraper or credit card to smooth it onto the surface of the snowmobile and remove any air bubbles. Wait about five minute for the adhesive to work, and then pull the tape off the back of the decal. If the decal starts to come up, press it back into place, and wait a few more minutes before trying to remove the adhesive tape.
