This type of wiring diagram may include parts of the alternator such as the regulator, rotor, output diodes, stator and diode trio. A coil of wire wrapped around the iron core of the alternator, known as the rotor, creates an electrical charge that goes to the battery. The regulator determines how much current to send to the battery based on the input and output of the system. The warning lamp lights up on the dashboard when the alternator or battery fails to produce enough electricity.
