Chevrolet offered all of its 1967 Chevrolet Chevelles with eight-cylinder engines. Numerous submodels exist, including five versions of the 300 sedan. Consumers could purchase the Malibu as a convertible, sedan, sports coupe, sports sedan and station wagon. The automaker also offered the 1967 Chevelle SS 396 in three sports coupe and three convertible versions.
Chevrolet's SS 396 convertible muscle car features a three- or four-speed manual, or a Powerglide automatic transmission. The 396-cubic-inch big-block engine delivers 375 horsepower. Front disc brakes were optionally included in the 1967 models. Due to federal safety regulation changes, Chevrolet installed a dual-chamber master cylinder to replace the single-chamber unit. It also gave the car's 14-inch wheels a silver, slotted rally look. Chevrolet built about 63,000 of the SS 396 cars in 1967.
