ZTE is an acronym for Zhongxing Telecommunication Equipment. ZTE is a telecommunications corporation with headquarters in China and subsidiaries in other countries, including Australia, Indonesia, Brazil, Germany and the United States.
ZTE was founded in 1985 by a group of investors affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Aerospace. It was initially founded under the name Zhongxing Semiconductor Co., but underwent a name change in 1993 to Zhongxing New Telecommunications Equipment Co., Ltd. ZTE Corporation's main products include mobile phones, telecommunications software, wireless access and optical transmission services and hardware. ZTE's customer base is global with significant sales in 140 countries.
