EasyBib is an online app that allows you to create academic citations by entering relevant information, picking the source type and picking the citation style. It then uses this information to auto-generate the citation, which can then be exported as a Word document and pasted into a paper.
First, you need to know what citation style you're using. The three most common citation and writing styles are APA, MLA and Chicago style. MLA, or Modern Language Association, is used for English and other subjects in the humanities department. APA, or American Psychological Association, is used for social sciences. Chicago style is used for non-academic citations but frequently sees use in academia.
In EasyBib, you have the option of letting the app automatically extrapolate information or entering it manually and letting it do the formatting. You also need to pick the source type, and you have over 55 choices that cover almost everything. After entering the information, look over it, and verify it to be sure it's correct, then edit as needed. Click the "Autocite" button to create the citation. You can then add more and the system alphabetizes them. After all citations have been finished, export them to Microsoft Word or OpenOffice to copy into your paper.
