Microsoft released Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista on the Microsoft Download Center on May 25, 2009. Windows Vista SP2 introduced support for new hardware at the time, and it included all the updates for Windows Vista that Microsoft made available after releasing Windows Vista SP1.
Window Vista SP2 boasted improved compatibility and performance for programs from companies other than Microsoft. It also improved the support for Bluetooth devices, enhanced the Wi-Fi connection after users wake their computers from sleep mode and added the capability to record data on Blu-ray discs.
In addition to program and hardware support, Window Vista SP2 introduced the 4.0 version of Windows Search, which included better indexing functionality, and added fixes to the Windows Media Center that improved its capability to record TV content.
