The default location for the Windows task bar is along the bottom of the desktop. However, users can move it so that it's located along the left, right or top edge of the screen. They can also customize it by making it larger or adding more toolbars.
The task bar helps users keep track of programs as they're multitasking. It also allows them to minimize, maximize or close windows, as well as switch back and forth between programs. The bar is comprised of three sections: the Start button, which opens up the Start Menu and displays a list of installed programs; a middle section where icons of opened programs appear; and the notification area, which displays the current time and date, as well as alerts about the computer's system settings and programs.
