Both versions of the GoPro Hero4 Action Camera receive high ratings from critics at PC Magazine and Tech Radar. The Silver edition receives a rating of four out of five stars by PC Magazine, while the Black receives four and a half out of five by Tech Radar.
Reviewers at PC Magazine gave the Silver edition of the GoPro Hero4 Action Camera a rating of excellent. Critics noted the camera's high video quality and 4K recording capabilities. Other important features include the multiple shooting modes, an enhanced menu system and the addition of a 1.5 inch LCD touchscreen. This screen allows users to view footage right at the point of filming without a computer. Critics also noted the short battery life and $400 price tag of the Silver GoPro Hero4 Action Camera, however.
Tech Radar praises the GoPro Hero4 Action Camera Black Edition for its ease at connecting to WiFi, reliable mounting system and size. This camera is also able to record 4K videos at 30 frames per second, and 1080p resolution at 120 frames per second. The critics also note the slow start up time of this camera and the inability to zoom, which is a characteristic of all GoPro cameras. Unlike the Silver edition, the Black edition does not have a LCD touchscreen.
