To post on Tumblr, users must register for a free account. The registration process requires the user to submit their email address, password, username or URL. Tumblr accounts essentially serve as the user’s own website. Users can select from hundreds of free or premium Tumblr themes to make their profile stand out. Additional customization features allow users to alter their colors, font type and background images on their blog.
After the user registers and customizes their blog, they can then decide how they want to use the site. Through the Tumblr dashboard, users can create, edit and post their content. The icons at the top of the dashboard allow the user to share text, photos, quotes, links, audio and video posts to the Tumblr community. The dashboard also provides filters to customize sharing and viewing privileges between the entire Tumblr community or just the user’s friends.
Tumblr connects users to content through the search function. Tumblr utilizes a series of tags to organize individual posts by subject category, such as art, music, humor, fashion, sports, television, etc. The open platform allows users to truly create and view content on their own terms. Through the Tumblr mobile app, users can blog or view content on-the-go.Learn more about Internet & Networking
