Walmart, Target, Macy's, Apple and Staples are a few online retailers that have either a listing of company stores or a store locator on their respective websites. Some of these retailers allow users to check whether an online product is also available in a local store.
Walmart's store finder identifies several stores near the website visitor's point of Internet access, and a search engine enables the visitor to search for stores by city, state or ZIP code. A Google Maps version of the store locator is also available. Walmart.com allows users to search for products based on availability at a chosen store, and provides information such as stocking status, aisle location and, sometimes, the quantity of the item in stock. Target and Staples also shows website visitors nearby store locations based on the point of Internet access.
Macy's has a store locator search engine connected to Google Maps that identifies nearby Macy's retail outlets. The Macy's website also allows users to search for store events and catalogs. Apple likewise has a search engine, but it also provides a complete list of Apple stores by state. The Apple website has an additional search engine enabling visitors to search for authorized Apple product resellers and service providers.
