As of 2015, the online streaming website, Telebyuwers.tv, is no longer available due to copyright infringement of ABS-CBN TV shows and movies. The ABS-CBN shut it down with the cooperation of Crime Stoppers. Therefore, users can not watch content on Telebyuwers.tv.
Telebyuwers.tv broke the copyright law by uploading and streaming copyrighted TV shows and movies without the permission of the copyright holder, ABS-CBN. Consequently, everything linked to the illegal streaming website has been taken down, even their blog on Blogger.com.
Searching for Telebyuwers with any search engine no longer shows the URL of the actual website. However, typing the URL in manually takes the user to a still-working web domain with the message of the website being permanently shut down. Additionally, the ABS-CBN has provided a link to its official streaming website, TFC, along with the cost of using such a service.
Many websites have faced legal issues (including being shut down) due to copyright violation. Among the most notorious is the shutdown of the online file hosting website, Megaupload, on Jan. 19, 2012.
Having launched on Oct. 23, 1953, the ABS-CBN is the first and most popular commercial TV network in the Philippines. As its partner, the non-governmental organization Crime Stoppers provided assistance in shutting down the website. It serves as a safe way for the public to anonymously provide information about illegal activity to the police.
