You can get your volume icon back using the customize option in the Windows taskbar. Taskbar icons disappear for a number of reasons, from accidentally selecting the wrong option in the taskbar to installing a conflicting program. You only need to have Windows 7 or 8 running on your computer to fix this issue.
- Customize the taskbar
Look for a small arrow located near the right-hand icons on your Windows taskbar. Click the arrow to bring up a pop-up menu. Click Customize to open a new window.
- Locate the volume icon
Scroll down the list until you see Volume. Select the option you want from the drop-down list. For example, click Show icons and notifications if you always want to see the icon in your taskbar. Click OK to exit the window.
- Review your work
Look for the volume icon in the taskbar after selecting your option. If you see it, carry on with your daily tasks. If not, repeat the process, and choose another option to see if it places the volume icon back on the taskbar. Make sure you choose to show the icon and notifications. Afterward, restart your computer to let any and all changes take effect.
