Visual Basic is a computer programming system created and developed for Windows in 1991. Still widely used in 2014, it's regarded as the most widespread computer programming system in history. Its main purpose is to make it simple for programmers to design and write software for the Windows operating system.
Visual Basic is a complete software solution in that it provides a complete architecture, that is, a way for the software to "speak" to the operating system, while making it easy to program by using a graphical interface and letting programmers "draw" their software. As of 2014, Visual Basic is now called Visual Basic .NET, released in 2002 as an improvement to the original software.
