Full Answer

To import photos and videos from external devices such as cameras or phones, connect the device to a computer, start Windows Photo Gallery, and select the Import option from the Home tab. Once the Import Photos and Videos dialog box appears, select the device connected earlier, and click on Import. To rename the files or change the directory where the program ends up saving them, click on the More Options link, and make the desired changes. This allows users to organize and group items that they wish to add or to import all files and save them in the My Pictures folder.

To edit the imported files automatically, select the desired photos, select the Edit tab, and click on the Auto Adjust option in the Quick Adjustments section. To do this manually, select the Fine Tune option in the Adjustments section. Users who are unable to edit photos should be sure to uncheck the Read-only option from the Properties dialog boxes for the photos, and move them to a directory they can access.
