To access AT&T's Live Chat service, visit the company's Contact Us page and select the service you require assistance with. The options are Wireless, Digital TV, Internet, Home Phone and Home Security. Click on the relevant service, and then click "Chat Now" under the words Live Chat.
Clicking Chat Now brings up a window in the lower right-hand corner of your screen, prompting you to enter a more specific category of inquiry related to the chosen service. For example, for the Wireless category, the window asks if you have a question regarding billing and payments, checking order status, moving or modifying your service, or if you have technical difficulties.
Selecting this category takes you to the chat window itself, with a prompt to enter your specific question. After a moment, a named agent asks how he can help you. Chat with the person until you feel the issue has been resolved or your questions have been sufficiently answered.
In the chat window itself, there are options in the lower left-hand corner. You can turn the chiming noise for the chat on and off, email yourself a transcript of the chat or print a transcript of the chat.
If there are any technical difficulties with the chat or you need to reach them and have only phone access, you can contact AT&T at 1-800-288-2020, as of July 2015. Like the Live Chat, you can call the number at any time or day.
