Slingbox owners can use the Slingbox PRO-HD by connecting it to a home entertainment source to stream high definition or standard definition shows from all over the world. The Slingbox is fitted with a built-in DVB-T tuner that owners can use to watch shows without causing issues with traditional television shows. Slingbox is also accessible over an Internet connection using either a PC or a Mac computer.
The Slingbox PRO-HD is compatible with a variety of either SD or HD sources, including DVD players, DVRs and set-top boxes. Connection to a Slingbox PRO-HD from the home entertainment source can be done using either S-Video connectors, component connectors or composite connectors. Once a television set is connected to a Slingbox PRO-HD, users can navigate all available programming using either a tablet or smartphone that has the SlingPlayer software installed. Alternatively, users can also use the provided on-screen remote control to navigate their television.
As of 2015, the Slingbox PRO-HD is able to deliver video content to up to 1080p in high definition and provides access to a range of content, such as sports and special shows. Users streaming in high definition through the Slingbox PRO-HD are also required to have at least 1.5 megabits per second of network speed.
