To use Screencast-O-Matic to make recordings of content on your screen, drag the Screencast-O-Matic square over whatever you want to record, click the red circle to begin the recording countdown, and make your recording when the countdown finishes. Click the "Done" button when you're finished with your recording, and press the green button at the bottom left of the window that pops up to watch your video.
You can publish Screencast-O-Matic videos to YouTube, Video File or directly to Screencast-O-Matic. Many schools block access to YouTube, so choose a different method if you're trying to publish material at a school. The easiest publishing method is to use Screencast-O-Matic. If you choose that option, enter the desired title and description as well as other information you may want to include, such as links, notes and captions, and click "Upload" to encode and publish the file to Screencast-O-Matic.
Videos can last up to 15 minutes long but don't have to reach that limit. If you want your video to show footage from your webcam, turn on the webcam function in the record menu by hitting the button to the left of the X. The paid version of the software allows users to make longer recordings, remove the branding watermark, edit recordings and more.
