The scan feature on the Brother scanner can be used in two ways, either from the control center or from the Brother machine's scan key. The Scan to File feature allows scanning of a document and automatically saving it to a specified location. It involves configuring the Scan to File feature and scanning the file to save it in PDF format.
To open the ControlCenter for Windows, click Start, select Programs or All Programs, select Brother, and select the Brother Machine model number. Select ControlCenterx to load it in the Task Tray, and then double-click it to launch in the program window. For Macintosh users, opening the ControlCenter involves clicking on Macintosh HD then Library and then Printers. Select Brother, click on Utilities, select ControlCenter, and then click on the ControlCenter.app. Click the ControlCenter icon in the Task Tray, and click open to launch it.
Configurations can be performed by clicking on Configuration, Scan and selecting File. To scan, place the document on the flat scanner glass or into the Automatic Document Feeder if it is equipped with one. Launch the program window under the ControlCenter icon on the task tray. Click the File button on the Scan menu. The Brother machine scans the document and saves it in PDF format at the specified folder under the Software Button tab of the ControlCenter.
To use the Scan key of the Brother machine, ensure that the ControlCenter is launched and loaded in the Task Tray. Place the document on the flat scanner glass or into the Automatic Document Feeder, and press the Scan key. Select Scan to File, and press the OK key. Press the Start, Black Start or Color Start key, and it is saved in its specified folder.
