To use the Netgear setup wizard, connect your modem or router with the phone line and computer, and initiate the setup procedure by accessing the Netgear Genie screen via a Web browser. Follow the instructions in each step, and keep inputting the necessary information until the setup is complete.
If you’re using a DSL Internet service, use the DSL microfilter device to connect the phone and the router to a phone line, and use an Ethernet cable to connect the router to your computer. Open a Web browser, and wait for the setup wizard to initialize automatically. If that fails, manually enter “192.168.0.1” in the address bar, and press Enter. Select the Yes option on the first screen, and click on Next. On the following screen, select your country from the drop-down menu, click Next, and wait for the setup wizard to detect your Internet connection.
After the wizard detects the connection as PPPoE or PPPoA type, enter your username and password in the appropriate fields, and click Next. Once the setup wizard finalizes the procedure, it should display the settings it applied to the connection, including the names for the 2.4 and 5 gigahertz wireless networks and their default passwords. In case you are unable to complete the last step, contact your Internet service provider, and ask for correct login credentials.
