To use a GoPro Hero to capture video or photos, press the Mode button repeatedly until obtaining the desired mode, and then press Shutter to start or stop recording video or to take a picture. The Mode button is also the Power button, and holding it for a minimum of two seconds powers the camera on or off.
Before using a GoPro Hero for the first time, unlatch and open the back door. Insert a micro SD card, such as Class 10 or UHS-1. Charge the battery via the included USB cable. Close and latch the back door. After turning the camera on, press the Mode button to adjust the camera's settings, the Shutter button to enter the Settings menu, the Mode button again to peruse menu options, and the Shutter button again to select the appropriate option.
GoPro offers several different generations of Hero cameras, each with its own set of functions and capabilities. Although sold separately, mounts are a feature that enable users to mount a GoPro Hero to a helmet and other gear, with flat and curved adhesive mounts and hardware. The head strap, suction cup, surfboard mount, bodyboard mount and the chest harness are several examples.
