To use FaceTime, activate FaceTime in the settings or by signing in to the app, and place a call by selecting someone from your list of contacts on the phone or in FaceTime. Use Facetime to place audio or video calls on later versions of iPhones, iPads and iPods.
- Activate FaceTime
From the homescreen of your device, open the FaceTime app. When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password. You can also activate the app by selecting FaceTime in your settings, turning it on, and signing in to your Apple account.
- Place a call from FaceTime
Open the FaceTime app, and tap the video icon for a video call, and the phone icon for an audio call. Select the person you wish to call from your list of contacts. If you are using an iPad or iPod touch, you need to enter the email address that the contact uses for FaceTime, so add it to your list of contacts before calling.
- Place a call from your list of contacts
Open your list of contacts. Find the name of the person you want to call, and tap the name to view the contact. To place a FaceTime call, tap the FaceTime phone or video icon. If you are already on the phone with a person, you can tap the FaceTime icon to invite them to join you on a video call.
