Update Adobe Shockwave Player by downloading the latest release from Adobe's website. The website automatically detect the user's operating system and presents the appropriate version. In case the detection fails, click Need Shockwave Player for a Different Computer to manually select your operating system.
Alternatively, wait for the application to update itself. If Adobe has released a newer version, watching a Shockwave movie automatically updates the player. To check if the automatic update service is turned on, right-click on Shockwave content, and select Properties. The automatic update setting is under Player Updates.
Adobe claims that over 450 million desktop devices run Adobe Shockwave Player as of 2015. The player allows users to view 3D games, interactive demos and learning applications. Content creators use Adobe Director to make Shockwave content.
