To uninstall the Ask.com toolbar, close all browsers, click Start on the Windows taskbar, and select Control Panel from the menu. On the Control Panel window, click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category. On the new page, locate the Ask Toolbar and Ask Toolbar Updater, right-click on them, and then click Uninstall. Launch the browser, and check whether the Ask.com toolbar appears as the default search engine.
If the Ask toolbar still appears as the default search engine and you are using Google Chrome, go to the top-right corner of the page, and then click on the three horizontal lines. From the shortcut menu, click Tools, and then click Extensions. On the new page, select all extensions that come with the Ask software, such as the Ask Toolbar. Click on a specific extension, and then click on the trash can next to it to delete. Click on the Menu icon at the top-right corner of the browser, select Settings from the shortcut menu, and then select the new default browser under Default Browsers.
On Firefox, click on Tools from the menu bar, select Extensions on the right-hand side of the Add-ons Manager windows, and then select all extensions associated with Ask.com. Click Remove or Uninstall to remove the selected extensions.
