Twitter went from being a private company to a publicly traded company on November 7, 2013. It trades under the ticker TWTR. The initial public offering came about 7 years after the company was launched by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone and Noah Glass.
The year 2013 was somewhat of a banner year for technology IPOs. It had the most Internet IPOs for investors to choose from since 2000. More than 25 technology and social media companies went public.
Twitter had the biggest IPO in its category in 2013. It raised $1.8 billion and saw its opening stock price jump 93 percent on trading day, according to CNN.
