Some troubleshooting tips for an iPhone when having issues include recharging, restarting or resetting the device. If those tips do not work, other troubleshooting tips include restoring and renewing the device.
The most simple step is to charge the iPhone up to full power by plugging it into a USB port or into the wall with an AC adapter. If this doesn't work, restarting the iPhone may also work to fix issues. An individual can do this by pressing and holding the sleep button, and then sliding the red slider on the screen to turn off the phone. When the phone goes off, the user can hold the sleep button again until the Apple logo appears.
Another option for troubleshooting an iPhone is to do a reset. Press and hold the sleep button while pressing the home button. When the Apple logo appears, the user must release both buttons for the reset to occur.
If the previous steps do not work, an iPhone user can take the drastic step of restoring the iPhone. Connect it to a computer and open iTunes. In iTunes, click the Restore option, which erases all of the media and data on the phone. The final option is to renew the iPhone by turning off the power, and then pressing the iPhone home button while attaching it to the power cord on the computer. The user must release the home button and follow the directions on iTunes.
