Ticket to Read is a fun online environment where kids can practice their reading skills and compete with other kids from all over the world. Some of the features include an easy-to-use interface, support for English language learners, automated quizzes and self-correcting guidance.
Ticket to Read has plenty of literacy activities that encourage fluency and comprehension skills. This system is a self-paced and student-centered program for children from kindergarten to the sixth grade. It provides extended reading practice to improve students' reading performance. When the students complete tasks in the areas of comprehension and fluency, they earn points that they use to decorate their personal clubhouses.
Inside of Ticket to Read's easy-to-navigate interface, there are interactive activities that are supported by animation and audio, hundreds of reading passages and games, and entry points based on students' reading and fluency levels. The motivating rewards system engages the students and keeps them on the task.
Ticket to Read supports instruction, practice and the monitoring of the student's progress. The system requirements for personal computers include high-speed Internet, Firefox 39.0 or above, Adobe Flash Player and a PDF reader. There is also an iPad app so that students can practice on the go.
