Support for popular antivirus software is available directly on the respective antivirus product's website. The companies producing Norton, McAfee, AVG, Avast and other popular antivirus software all have online troubleshooting databases, as well as ways to contact IT professionals via either chat, email or phone.
Different antivirus products have different levels of support offered for them. For issues such as billing, customers have no option but to directly contact the company producing the antivirus software that is being used. For other troubleshooting issues, other options may be available.
If support provided by an antivirus company is insufficient, a local computer repair store may be able to fix the problem. This solution may be applicable if the antivirus company's IT professionals do not understand the customer's problem or otherwise cannot help, or if the customer does not feel comfortable enough with technology to try and fix the problem on their own. Many computer repair stores offer in-store troubleshooting support.
If in-store support is not an option, other companies offer on-site troubleshooting services that include the technician traveling to the customer's home to repair the product. Providers of this service include Best Buy's Geek Squad. This may be convenient if trying to troubleshoot antivirus products on a large desktop computer that otherwise would be difficult to transport to a computer repair store. These on-site services, however, are more expensive than in-store services.
