How Do You Submit a Site to Ask?

Website URLs cannot be submitted directly to Ask as of 2014. Instead of allowing direct submissions, Ask crawls the web for valid URLs. To make sure a site appears in Ask, webmasters can add a command to the robots.txt file specifying auto find of the XML site map.

To be indexed in Ask, the site map location should be the full URL of the site map. It takes approximately four to six weeks for pages to be indexed.

Ask, originally known as Ask Jeeves, is a search engine focusing on providing answers to questions. It was founded in Berkeley, California, in 1996. The company was acquired by InterActiveCorp in 2005. In 2014, Ask acquired the social networking website Ask.fm, which allows users to ask questions of other users.
