The Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is an Android tablet that Amazon released in October 2012. The tablet weights 567 grams and is 8.8 millimeters thick.
Built on the TI OMAP 4470 chipset, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 features a dual-core 1.5-gigahertz Cortex A9 CPU and 1 gigabyte of RAM. Lacking support for any memory card type, the device is available with two internal storage options: 16 and 32 gigabytes. A PowerVR SGX544 GPU is also available.
The 8.9-inch screen of the tablet runs at a resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels, putting the pixel density at 254 pixels per inch. The screen is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that can detect up to 10 fingers at once and display 16 million colors. The tablet has a 1.3-megapixel camera at the back but cannot record videos. It does not have a camera on the front.
