The base printing technology includes an advanced Micro Piezo printhead with an ink-repelling feature. There are a number of different cartridge configurations in this system, with technology that features an auto head alignment and advanced cleaning. The nozzle configurations, another specification of the Epson Stylus Pro 4900, come with both color and monochrome 360 nozzles.
To further enhance the performance of the Epson Stylus Pro 4900, the droplet technology allows very small droplets, down to 3.5 picoliters, but the system also produces up to three different droplet sizes. There are six different resolutions available on this printing system, which give different printing quality options, including a 360 dots-per-inch draft quality.
The Epson Stylus Pro 4900 also uses Epson intelligent ink cartridges that have a shelf life of about two years, or six months after opening. This printer also has line accuracy specifications of plus or minus 0.2 percent, and the display permanence rating is up to 200 years for the color ink and over 200 years for the black ink.
