To get sound on your computer, click Start on the Windows menu, select Control Panel, and then select System. Click the Hardware tab, select Device Manager, and then click the plus sign next to Sound, Video and Game Controllers to expand the menu. If a yellow question mark appears under sound, visit your computer manufacturer’s website, download the sound drivers, and install them into the computer. After installation, restart the computer, and then play the audio files to test sound.
Alternatively, if the sound drivers are active, go to the bottom-right corner of the Windows screen, and click on the speaker icon. Push the volume button upwards to increase the volume, or uncheck the checkbox next to Mute to activate sound.
If you are using external speakers or headsets, plug the audio jack into the green port to receive sound. Also, switch on the external speakers, and turn up the volume. If there is no sound yet, right-click on the speaker icon located at the bottom-right corner of the Windows menu, and select Playback Devices from the shortcut menu. On the new window, select the specific playback device for sound by clicking on it. Restart the computer, and then play an audio file to test sound.
