Shoebox first launched as MyShoebox, an application for digitalizing and backing up old printed photos. Its core features still include a photo scanner that uses a smartphone camera to photograph printed pictures and crop them, making them look like regular digital photos. It also lets users tag their photos, share them and organize them into collections. Other organizational features include tagging and sorting. It also includes a search feature that makes it easier to find specific photos within large collections. Users can upload digital photos from various devices into the cloud.
Shoebox is a free service that is available for iOS devices, Android devices, Windows Phone smartphones, Windows computers and Mac computers.
A 2014 update to the application introduced a number of features. Android users could choose an option to display photos on the lock screen, offering them a chance to re-discover old pictures. It also launched a "This Day in History" feature to provide users with photo memories tied to specific dates and an auto-upload feature that allows users to automatically back up their photos.Learn more about Mobile
