After fully charging the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and powering it on, the tablet may attempt to automatically activate itself depending upon where it was bought, according to the Sprint printable user guide. Touching Activate overrides this procedure and allows the user to manually follow on-screen prompts to complete activation.
Setup screens may either precede or follow the activation process. After viewing the welcome screen, the user may be prompted to select a language. Any part of setup can be skipped by touching either the Next or Skip keys, while previous screens are accessed by touching the Back key. Users who have auditory or visual impairments should press the Accessibility button on the Welcome screen and adjust settings accordingly. Following the onscreen instructions during setup allows the user to complete the entire process individually.
Wi-Fi settings can be modified during this time if the user has not already been prompted. Secure wireless networks require passwords. Information pertaining to specific user accounts, such as Samsung, Google and Dropbox, is enterable but not necessary. Setup also allows the user to enable or disable backup and restore services, in addition to location services. A tutorial regarding key functions of the device is available for viewing during setup, where the user can enable or disable each individual one.
