To set up a Linksys Wireless G router, connect the router to a modem by plugging one end of an Ethernet cable into a port on the modem and the other end into the port marked Internet on the router. Insert one end of the AC adapter that comes with the router into the power supply jack at the back of the router, and plug the other end into an electric socket. Wait for the Power light to come on.
When the WLAN light is flashing, turn on a computer and open up a web browser such as Google Chrome. Enter the Internet Protocol address "192.168.1.1", which is the default IP address of a Linksys Wireless G router, into the address bar of the browser. When the login screen appears, log in with the username "admin" and a blank password.
On the Administration page, click Administration, click Management, change the administrator password from blank to a new one, and click Save Settings. To set up a password-protected wireless network, click Wireless, click Wireless Security, select "WPA Personal" in the Security Mode drop-down list. Enter a passphrase in the Passphrase text box and click Save Settings. To change the name of the wireless network, click Wireless, click Basic Wireless Settings, enter a new network name in the Network Name text box, and click Save Settings.
